Somethings I would like from you this decade

Written by / Posted in Good Cause / 3 Comments

1. Be honest. As a group we now control the communication of the world. As I write this I am sending a message around one person in China every second. Each of these communications, blog posts, tweets, ads, pings, auctions etc. are communications. We have the ability to set an example that will be seen all over the world. How bout in 10 years the world says to us. Thanks guys, when the world became corrupt, and we didn’t know who to believe, we knew that what we saw on the internet was true. Joking? Fuck no. Dead serious.

2. Be generous. If you really work hard, nose to the grindstone and all that, and study up on making money using the internet you will succeed. I don’t mean shortcuts, I mean old school, study, make contacts, study the technical stuff, stay up all night working. For at least the next year or years, you will probably be able to make more money than 90% of the people who live on the planet. There is no need to hide to learn what you learned. Sure you can keep your newest greatest idea secret, but for those of us who are doing o.k. or better, often sharing that one idea you probably won’t get to, could change someones life.

3. Work on Good things that help people. One of my greatest sources of pride are the cartoon books on bodyabcs.com. They have taught hundreds of thousands or maybe more people about chiropractic. I made money off of less than 1% of those people. All the rest of them were improved by it. In fact those cartoon books have been used. I have been going through hundreds of offers on affiliate networks lately, and honestly most of them are deceptive, or dishonest. I want to be proud of what I sell people. Help find good things in the world that we can share with others.

4. Take care of yourself for me. I love you guys and gals. We all work crazy hours, and live in a world that celebrates booze, drugs, and cheating to get ahead. Take good care of your body and mind, so we can all be around, happy and healthy for a long time to come.

5. Take care of everyone else. The world needs your briliance and creativity. Most of the people in the world live a horrible life compared to us. I don’t want you to give them charity, it will just make them weak. But figure out ways to better their minds and skills so they can take care of themselves and help those around them the same.

I am sure this list could be much longer, but if we could just get done numbers one through 5 in the next 10 years, we will be in really good shape.

P.S. Oh yeah, and stop killing people, other than when they are trying to kill someone else.

Poker tourney sold out at Affilaite Summit

Written by / Posted in affiliate / 0 Comment

Just to keep you all in the loop.

Both Saturday and Sunday of Purpose Inc. Poker Tournament during Affiliate Summit is sold out.

We have gotten some nice help from NeverBlue affiliate company. By the way, with my new project I have been looking at NeverBlue’s site and running some offers. One thing I dig that I have not seen on any other sites is a little blue thermometer thing that lets you know how much action an offer is getting. It looks like a combo between total amount of the offer being sold, but also how much per affiliate. It is nice to have a summary visual to help decide which offer to go after.

The Mirage has a big tournament playing before our tournament, that got scheduled before we did. As a result we have been limited on tables. As we get closer to the night, I am going to see if I can get them to open up another table of 10 for each night. No promises yet.

For those of you playing one night, who are interested in playing the second night, here are the rules.

If you play the first night and make it to the final 10 that night, then you move on to the finals on the second night. If you are one of those moving onto the championship from the top 10 of the first day, then you can not play the second day. So there is a bit of a risk if you sign up for both nights and do well the first night, you lose the entry fee for the second day.

Also, if you no show, you also lose your entry fee. It will just remain in the pot.

Also, every cent you paid to enter either will go to:
1. Pay the paypal fees
2. Pay the eventbrite fees
3. Go to cover the Mirage for their small take.
4. Most of it goes into the pot.

All of the other costs (Including In and Out Go Tweet Find!) were picked up by our sponsors, Never Blue, WhyPark and Tweet Find, and me πŸ™‚

We have some amazing people playing.

Some of the biggest shots in the affiliate industry will be playing, super affiliates, owners of the networks, and playahs.

Everyone is invited to come and watch.

For the night you play, you get free drinks all night in the Mirage Poker room, even if you get knocked out.

O.K. here is the deal. 11 hours into selling tickets for the event it sold out.

I know a LOT of people want to play. After all, something like 2000 affiliate marketers are going to vegas and what do people like to do more than get together in a pack, with free drinks, and a chance play some h0ldem.

Note for those registered, before you read the next line:

THOSE ALREADY SIGNED UP, WHO SIGNED UP FOR SUNDAY WILL PLAY ON SUNDAY, AND THEN KEEP PLAYING ON SUNDAY UNTIL THE TOURNAMENT IS OVER FOR THEM (DETAILS BELOW)

I have talked to the Mirage, and most likely we are going to be sellingΒ  more seats for Saturday, January 8th, with the game starting at 8:00 p.m.

If we do this, the top 10 people from Saturday will move forward to play the top 10 people of Sundays game.

These two top ten groups, 20 people in all, will play each other on Sunday, until only one player is standing.

The guys who allready signed up to play on Sunday, will get to play longer and have a bigger pot.

The guys sign up for Saturday “if we do it” will play on Saturday, and if they are in the top 10, will move on to play on Sunday.

No guarantees, but watch your e-mail for announcements.

Either way, should be tons of fun!

F#$@ing Guru Lover

Written by / Posted in internet crew / 14 Comments

I did an e-mailing to the guys on my list a few months ago to tell them about a cool product I found, and one of the e-mails I got back said F$%CK YOU GURU LOVER! This was a very odd e-mail. Never gotten anything close to hate mail before, so the “content” stuck with me. πŸ™‚

During the past four months since I discovered Frank Kern I have been studying the info marketing gurus. There is a loosely defined pack of guys, who market the living bejeebus out of each others products, and have a massive following. For those of you who are part of this world, you must think I am crazy that I did not even know they existed until 4 months ago at Frank Kern’s List Control event. This world consists of products like List Control, Kajabi, Product Launch Formula, Traffic Geyser, and on and on. A lot of people buy millions of dollars of these guys products every year. Most of these products are sold through partnerships with strategic partners, often on a 50/50 split.

For those of you in the “guru” world, the world I come from has events in it like Pubcon which has a few thousand people, Adtech, again a few thousand attendees, and Affiliate Summit with also thousands of attendees. Most of the attendees consider themselves internet marketers. There are very few info products, and instead information is shared freely, or through paid consulting. This is not a small nor insignificant world, with companies deeply involved with it such as google and facebook. In this world I am as Neil Patel says about himself, kinda a big deal.

So I have been spending the weekend at Jeff Walkers Product Launch Formula event. During it I have met the worlds winningest dog trainer for doggy obstacle courses (which has a technical name that alludes me), the world champion at hitting a golf ball the farthest, and gotten to be good friends with Mike Murphy,Β  who is a producer, director and animator, and has done some bad ass animation like being 1/6th of the animators on Golem in Lord of the Rings, and the guy who animated Mrs. Butterworth in the Geico ads. Fricken brilliant and warm good guy. All of these guys are training at internet marketing to take what they rock at, and get it online in a big way.

There is a lot less drinking at this event than there is my “normal” internet events. There are some heavily technical people, and a lot of brilliant people. Most of the people are very, very, very nice. They are polite.

It was great to meet Jeff Walker today face to face for the first time. In fact he hugged me. πŸ™‚ Turned out Jeff watched some of Jenny and mines crazy videos and liked them. I was really touched by that. In fact a lot of the people at the event had watched them. I have learned one thing about doing internet marketing to internet marketers, it is that by doing so they know you, and your reputation may be good, or it may be bad. I give a lot and take very little from internet marketers, so it acts as a nice calling card before I ever meet them.

I find that very few people in the “guru” space, or their students go to the events I normally do, and visa versa. I think the few people that learn and understand both sides of the tracks on this, are positioned to kick some major ass, and the rest who because of their own fears do not, will be held vastly back in their success. In face, through learning the Product Launch Formula, it has totally changed the way I view and use facebook ads for me and my clients.

So yes, I am now a F#$%ing Guru lover. :), but I still love Matt Cutts too. πŸ™‚

Affiliate Marketing in China

Written by / Posted in affiliate / 15 Comments

I am working with a company and at the moment am helping them to monetize some of their visitors from China and India. My initial instinct on this was, waste of traffic, there is no money in this.

Then I was at the Range Rover repair shop getting my wife’s car fixed, and I remembered that Rage Rover was now owned by a company in India. I also know my country is in debt to China to a point where they could call it a day for us at any time.

There are a lot of poor people in China and in India. With the shift of the worlds assets during the past 2 years, there are also a lot of poor Americans. It is a new world order, and to consider all Chinese and Indians and poor is a bad, bad mistake.

In fact two months ago I was contacted by a very nice guy in Katmandu, at the base of the Himalayas, Dali Lama country. My jaw dropped to my knees when I told him my hourly rate for consulting for the type of work he neeeded was $250 per hour, and he paid without hesitating.

Affiliate marketing in this part of the world is just getting started, but last time I was in Vegas it was the Chinese that were paying the big money gambling and eating at Wing Lei at the Wynn. Just look inside any of the high limit rooms in Vegas, and see who’s playing.

With clicks on Facebook in the U.S. costing around a buck each, and traffic from China getting around $0.001 per click, do you think there might be a market imbalance?

If you are in the game monetizing Chinese or Indian traffic, let me know, maybe we can work together. Maybe it is time for me to get to work on my Mandarin.

Wait! This isnt Aaron from Azoogle!

Wait! This isn't Aaron from Azoogle!

Help Me At BlogWorld

Written by / Posted in internet events / 12 Comments

On Friday I will be speaking with John Chow, Shoemoney, Zac Johnson, and Jonathan Volk answering everyones questions.

I think they only have room for 50 people. When shoemoney and I spoke to hundreds of people at Affiliate Summit they shut the doors and wouldn’t let any more people in from what I heard. With this crowd of speakers, I expect that the room will fill up in about 2 minutes, LOL.

If you want to guarantee to get in to hear us answer any and all questions and want to be in the center of the action, then e-mail me.

I need a couple of people to help me with the audience.

Job includes handing out index cards and pens to the audience,
making sure they wrote in a way I can read,
then picking them up after they are filled out and bringing them to me.

If you are already going to be at blogworld, no I can’t get you a free pass,
and want to help me, just e-mail me at dk(at)purposeinc.com

It should be fast, fun, furious, and controversial as this is one of most outspoken
group of people I have ever met.
