28 cent clicks to Internet Marketers Slash and Burn Style

Written by / Posted in internet events / 13 Comments

So a few weeks ago Frank Kern told me he was getting some crazy ass ROI on marketing to internet marketers.

I noticed I was seeing his ads on almost every single page I was on, on facebook.

My assumption is that he is not marketing to the entire universe, but to those he already knows dig internet marketing or know frank.

San Diego is turning into a crazy hot bed of the biggest internet marketers in the world.

It reminds me of what happened in the bay area, and then later in Seattle.

Cool they are all coming to here to join me now, I don’t have to travel any more.

To capitalize on this, in a totally non monetizeable way, I have set up the La Jolla surf club.

Totally free, open to any and everyone involved in RIS, Random Internet Shit.

I wanted to target those who are interested in internet marketing and live in San Diego, or La Jolla.

Unfortunately, this was not very many people.

So I went after those, and still am, that live in the area and are interested in any one of the below.

So far in the past few days I have spent $5.90 and have a CTR of .177 which aint bad.

We had two people sign up for the event from the paid clicks, at a cost of $3 each.

Can you imagine the value of having an internet marketer come to an event you are throwing,

which is surfing at the beach.

I don’t know about you, but if I sign up to go to someones event, I think they are pretty cool,

and feel at least a little in debt to them, so would do them a favor.

If I was actually selling something, I can see this would have been rock star.

I paid $5.90 for 21 clicks, which is 28 cents a click, for internet marketers, which is usually an expensive group.

Here are the actual ads if you want to steal them.

I am going to be selling some shit to internet marketers in the next few months, so will probably try this strategy again then, unless you guys have burned it out!

If you have some names to add to my “interest list” for my targeting, let me know in the comments please.

UPDATE

A few hours later, I have gotten some more keyword ideas sent to me. As of 4:34 a.m. here is the updated list.

    Hey DK,

I don’t know if you remember me from oh about a year or so ago. It was right around the time your father passed. We emailed back and forth a few times. I was just building my first crappy site and finding my way online. I had some crazy over ambitious idea about building a search engine or something. Anyways man I have pressed on in a major way and great things have happened…and continue to everyday. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for think tank notices as I plan on attending this year. Anyways man what’s the deal with this San Diego surf club? My surfing skills need some polishing (that shit is hard!) but I’d love to come check it out. I’m one of the many IMer’s out here, although I’m a native not a band wagoner. Anyways let me know about that surf club. Oh and for your ads…internet marketing party might be a good one, they just had their first event here in San Diego.

Hey Neil, nice to hear from you. Glad things are rocking. My events cover the two spectrums. thinktank is a snobby, invite only, fancy pants event, well in shorts and playing kickball kinda fancy, but you have to be a big fish to get invited. Things like my poker tournaments, and vegas meetups, and now surf club are for EVERYONE. Even total nubes. Half the people coming probably won’t get in the water which is totally cool. Just bring your bathing suit and sunscreen and you are in. There are at least a handful of people who have never surfed that we are going to give lessons to also.

And if you are one of the three people left in san diego who have not been face spammed by my invite ads, here is the link to the rsvp page. Please sign up cause it makes the event look important, http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=224843690878188

I somehow have avoided your face spamming, I think frank kern has my profile under some sort of spell. Anyways man…short notice. I have some crucial meetings down at shelter island that day. How often are you going to be doing them?

Ya know, with the price of the beach going up each year, the space in the ocean is very limited…. JK

Keep watching facebook for the ads. Give me more keywords, and we can keep running these till we figure out which one starts fasepamming you!

Thanks Paul. Hey send me an email at dk (at) purposeinc.com, and that goes for the rest of you too, so I can get your whole name and what you do in mydatabase.

I have been so busy, and interested in new stuff this year, so my traveling and conference schedule changed. I skipped things like Adtech this year, and instead went to Domain Fest, Amish and Trey Smiths events, and then Mike Koenigs this weekend. The ones I will be at for sure are my thinktank, Sep 15, 16, 17, so let me know about you and you may get invited. Also my poker tourneys at Pubcon and Affiliate Summit, assuming I have them again.

Hey guys, just want to let you know that DK is a super good guy. He’s one of the most honest dudes you will meet in Internet Marketing and his events rock. I have been to two Think Tanks and a poker party in Vegas–during Pubcon. I didn’t even go to Pubcon. I drove out for one night to play some poker and do some networking.

Hey guys, great stuff. I have a tip for you … Laser target the ads – instead of putting all the likes in ad …. make a bunch of ads .. facebook will lower your CPM and your clicks will end up being 0.03 0.02 …

    Thanks.

@Michael Can you explain this in more detail? If you want to link to a post of yours in the comment, that is cool too.
