The Dan Perry – Jeremy Schoemaker – Showdown! Pubcon Poker

Written by / Posted in pubcon poker tournament / 15 Comments

I am blogging from the Wynn hotel restaurant at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. What a night! The tournament lasted almost 6 hours, with the final showdown dropping chip by chip till the end.

Tons o’ pictures coming over the next week.

We even got a song from Tony Clifton, until the Poker Director took the mike away from him.

Greg from BOTW put a side game together with folks who didn’t make it to the final table.

The winners in the money, were as follows.

(Names not spell checked due to it being 3:41 am)

9. David Lawlor who won $290

8. Scott Skinger walked away with $387

7. Ben Hun doubled his entry fee with $484

6. Merrick Lozano had a nice pot at $581

5. Ben Davenport threw $678 in his pocket.

4. Jon Roy walked out nicely with $774.

3. Rob Schmid proke into the thousands with a take hom eof $1355

At one point, and you will see this in the photos to come, Jeremy Schoemaker, had a pile of chips as tall as the Palms Hotel. In his own words he later said if he had just gone all in on every hand he very possibly could have won just on that.

In the end, Dan Perry chipped away at Jeremy’s pile until it dwindled and just evaporated into thin air. Dan told me that he had only played poker once before at his uncles house, but had watched it a fair bit on T.V. It was a nice way for him to break into the game.

In the end Jeremy Schoemaker took a nice second after a 5 and a half hour chug to the end, and walked away with a nice $1936 for his nights work.

The winner, who was a little less known than Mr. Shoe was Dan Perry who beaming ear to ear walked out to go pack and fly home with $3195 in his hand.

Just before he went out the door, he asked me to take a $500 chip from his winnings, and give the money to the wife of the fire fighter who died in the fires.

Ben just stopped by our table to say hello, and with that I would like to thank all of the players, the sponsors, and my buddy’s at the Venetian for one of the times of my life.

Left to Right, Jeremy #2, Me just stoked!, and Dan #1, our first ever Purposeinc, Pubcon, BOTW, Planet Chiropractic, SEOish, Chipotle, SEO Poker Tournament winner!

There is more to come, stay tuned!

Of all the things I missed at pubcon this year, this was the one I wanted to see the most. Great job on setting this up, and I hope you’ll do this again next time.

I am Dan Perry’s Uncle and would like to take a little bit of the credit for this win and I’d also like my share of his/our winnings. Only the second time he has ever played, yah right!. Call it like you see it, I guess he is a little smarter than he looks. And one other thing, I want to buy one of those t-shirts, who do I see for that? Uncle TJ

It was great to get to play in the tournament and actually make the final table. I can honestly say that everyone I played against played the tournament fun just they way it should have. A great event and one I hope to play in again at the next Pubcon.

David this was by far the best networking event at Pubcon this year. I had the opportunity to genuinely meet and talk to so many players / SEO’s.

I guess I got little comfortable at that final table, and taking 6th was nice. Everyone played like gentlemen and I look forward to playing again next year if you will graciously host us again.

Thank you for putting this together, lunch/dinner is on Mario and I when we get back to San Diego.

Congrats guys! I’m the schmuck who finished 10th (1 place from money). Who’d of thought going all in with pocket queens wouldn’t get the job done. That is why I *love* that game! Thanks DK for putting on a great event. I’ll send my writeup in a couple days.

I was the one lucky enought to come out on top, and I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the entire tournament, especially the final table. Everyone showed a lot of class, and congratulated me on the win. Can’t wait to “defend the crown” at next year’s event!

I took 8th, ShoeMoney took me down with a blaze of glory. Jeez, I was sharing my Toberlone chocolate with Shoe all night and then he makes a ridiculous All-In call AND was taunting me! The guy is ruthless. 🙂

I had a great time. Thanks for organizing the event. Look forward to next year.

Never have I seen a real poker game, much less tournament. I would have loved to see all of those chips. Points for humanity, with the great causes that this went to. Sounds like you guys even did some networking too.

Must have been a fun night.

@Dan Perry: props to donating $500 for a good cause. Everyone loves a winner with a good heart. This seemed like a real deal poker tournament, I would have loved to see it. Next time, I’m going to start learning texas hold em for next year.
