Sean Golliher

I met Sean “Professor” Golliher at the 2008 SES.

He is an odd blend of one part Jazz musician, two parts SEO, and one part Scientist with a little sprinkle of Marine all mixed together.

Sean has two daughters, Melia who is 7 and Haley who is
6. His wife’s name is Jaime.

Sean heads up the new SEM Journal which is a peer reviewed Scientific journal that is taking on duplicate content, SEO, the algorithm and starting the long process of sorting out the wheat from the chaff, the truth from the boasting, and finding what actually is real and what falls under SEO superstition.

This is not small question, and one that will play out in his journal I predict long after each of us has logged out of our holographic full immersion screen for the last time.

The professor has played Jazz guitar for 24 years and had nine guitar students at the age of 18.

He toured Europe playing Jazz guitar in 1989 and played at the Montreux Jazz festival, North Sea Jazz festival
in Holland, and the Ozone Jazz festivals.

Sean got accepted to Boston’s Berkley school of music, but went to study physics instead.

Sean got he degree in Physics and a Masters in Electrical Engineering. Sean used to work on the particle accelerator at the University of Washington smashing particles, hence his nickname, coined by me of professor!
To help pay for grad school I joined the Marine Corps reserves. I was in the marines reserves for 6 years as a forward observer
and finished my time as a sergeant in the Marine Corps.

Sean worked for a while as an electrical engineer designing chips, and has four engineering patents related to circuit design.

Sean made most of the money online, that he now uses for his investments.

Sean became fascinated with ranking algorithms around 1999 when trying to figure out what caused Google to put what where.

Sean started reading patents and papers to understand how the search engines could determine how another website should be placed above his own. This led to online marketing ventures and then onto a more scientific study of what is going on.

Sean has four different companies. A residential real estate investing company, a commercial real estate investment company, a company that makes maps ( run by his wife) , and now SEMJ.org. He has totally left of the SEO consulting world to devote all of his energy to
SEMJ.org

SEMJ.org, the Scientific journal is an official sponsorof the Purposeinc ThinkTank. I am proud to be promoting the journal and look forward to watching it evolve!
